Baby Sleeping Door Signs

My cousin Abby asked me to create a mommy helping craft for her blog as a guest blogger. I was thinking about what I could make when I remembered a cute sign I had seen at a baby shower to hang on the door when your baby is sleeping.

Supplies
  • Birch Plywood 1/8X6x12 in from Michaels
  • Black, orange, yellow, white, brown Vinyl
  • Blue paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Sure Cuts A Lot
  • Cricut
  • Transfer Tape
  • Ribbon
  • Mod Podge

Step By Step Process

1. I used some paint I had left over from my house to paint the board blue

2. While I waited for it to dry I created my design on Sure Cuts A Lot. I used Gisel Script font and the cute little chick is from BeaOriginal . She has several files you can download for free or purchase. It is a great site!
 Badge

3. I used my cricut to cut out the vinyl and used transfer tape to place the vinyl on the dried board. That stuff is a BIG time saver!

4. I sealed the whole design with Mod Podge to keep it all glued down and added some ribbon to the back.

You can hang this sign on your front door or on the wall outside your precious ones room.

Variations and Tips

If you do not have a cutting machine or Sure Cuts A Lot you could make this with stamps, stickers, or hand painting it

I have made two other versions so far that are for sale on my Etsy Site AllyBallyDesigns

Bible Verse Frame

My husband and I decided to change up the color scheme in our room and painted the walls cream striped. I decided we needed to accent all the brown and cream with some red. I have always LOVED this bible verse for two reasons. One I believe it is important for my household to be serving the Lord at all times and also because it is a quote from the book of Joshua which is also my husbands name :)

I used my Sure Cuts a Lot and Cricut to design and cut the quote on vinyl so I could attach it to the front glass piece of a frame. That way I can change the paper color behind it anytime I want to change up the colors anytime I want!

Cafe Sign

I made this by painting brown over a old sign I did not like. Then I cut the cafe letters out using a font on my computer Sure Cuts a Lot and my cricut. My Husband attached it to the top of the cupboard for me. Perfect addition for my coffee corner.

Another Boys Beach Bucket

I thought tis pirate font was so cute. This Bucket would be simple to add on personalized initials to the handle. This bucket is for sale on my etsy site . I used Vinyl, my circuit and sure cuts a lot to make this.

Elle-Vinyl Blocks

I made this gift for my friends daughter. I liked the rustic look of the wood but would like to make more block sets with smoother wood. I put her name on one side and love on the other. I used my Cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot to cut out the letters on Vinyl and paper.

Dream Vinyl Frames

Joshua and I painted cream stripes in our bedroom and when we put in our new ceiling fan and the lights changed the paint tint from cream to yellow. I am not a huge fan of yellow so i decided to mix it up with red! I got frames from goodwill and spray painted them black. Then I put vinyl lettering on the glass so I can change out the background paper to whatever color I would like :)

Perpetual Calendar

This is one of my favorite items I have made! I hope to make many more of these this summer and hopefully sell them on Etsy. I already have lots of ideas of different paper combinations and colors! I kept this one pretty neutral because I made it as a present for my mom. My husband cut out the wood for me and I used mod podge to adhere the paper and my Cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot to cut out the vinyl. I look forward to posting my next one!
